in Floyd Landis

OUCH kicks butt  today at Battenkill with the pro race scheduled for tomorrow.

It has just been announced by OUCH that Floyd Landis will NOT be participating in the Battenkill race this weekend. Here is a portion of the press release:

Floyd Landis, who was originally part of the Battenkill lineup, was set to make the trip. However, during training on Wednesday, he suffered a laceration on his shin.

Dr. Brent Kay, his personal physician and co-founder of title sponsor OUCH Sport Medical Center, determined that, with an open wound on his leg, “it would be better for Floyd to remain back in southern California to heal and not risk infection to the laceration,” Tamayo said. “It’s just a bit of random bad luck.”

Dammit. Got a bad feeling about this.

eightzero, I suspect you’re not the only one. I just hope Floyd’s hip is in good shape, whatever else might be happening.

Over a “laceration”? Isn’t that the pro-cyclist equivalent of a “boo-boo”?

Oy.

Where’s the Super Glue when you need it? 😉

The fact that they will race on largely dirt roads @Battenkill obviously would affect an “open wound”. But, I still feel a great deal of concern over the injury sustained before the ToC and feel this was much worse than alluded to.

I hope it is “just” an injury.

Eightzero, I see no reason to suppose it’s anything other than “just an injury,” If it were what I believe you may be alluding to we would have surely heard it sung from the rooftops by now….On the other hand the injury may be threatening his comeback, or there could be other issues that I really don’t want to contemplate in light of recent revelations. Let’s just hope that it gets sorted out quickly, a real statement to the cycling press would end any and all speculation.

strbuk, it makes me very uncomfortable that we don’t here more about Floyd. If the injury was the same leg as the replaced hip…just worried.

Can’t you call him???

eightzero April 18, 2009 at 8:39 pm

Yeah, str. Call him. He takes your calls, right? Sorta like the batphone on your desk? Get us a report!

strbuk April 18, 2009 at 9:13 pm

LOL, my own brother doesn’t take my calls!! I’ll send a text and see what happens, don’t hold your breath…
