Busy Week for Floyd Landis

Looks like Floyd Landis has a very busy week coming up. After missing Battenkill with a deep cut to his shin, Floyd is set to race Sunday, April 26th,  at the Dana Point Grand Prix. Floyd will be joined by several other OUCH teammates, and he had this to say last week about the endeavor:

“Make no mistake, OUCH intends to win this race,” Landis stated. “The city of Dana Point and their sponsors have always stood up for me when times were tough. I want to give something back – something memorable.”

If you tweet you can follow DPGP’s updates.

In other racing news Floyd’s busy week continues with  Tour of the Gila in New Mexico. TOTG is a 5 day stage race which begins on April 29th and runs through May 3rd. His participation in the race was annouced on twitter last week:

EXTRA-EXTRA: Tour of the Gila is happy to announce FLOYD LANDIS will be at this year’s event!!!

In non-race related news, strbuk is showing “Cosmo” at the Erie, PA cat show Saturday and Sunday so race related updates will be posted when possible, stay tuned!

The Daily Peloton blurbs the Dana Point Grand Prix today and refers to Floyd Landis as a “cycling celebrity”. Gee, and I thought he was just a bike racer  🙂

Floyd Landis finished 29th in yesterday’s Dana Point Grand Prix.

Nice piece, plus a photo of Floyd, from yesterday’s Dana Point Grand Prix at Velonews.

In related news, the French Tabloid L’Equipe has published a scathing report on the Erie, PA cat show:

“It’s a worse case scenario. We have evidence, confirmed by extensive testing at our lab in Châtenay-Malabry, that certain felines have been systematically using banned cat nip for weeks. Metabolites have been identified that cannot be explained by mere “fancy feast” or “sheba” usage.”

When asked for comment on the article, one cat simply responded, “LOL. I’ve got a TUE for cat nip. Everyone uses it. Keeps you sharp, you know? But there are those that seem to be from another planet…some Cosmically gifted paws and whiskers…no one wants to talk about that.”

Dick Pound, former chairman of WADA is cited in the article. “Yeah, we’ve known all about this for some time. Any cat cuter than me is probably on something. I’ve been to cat houses myself, and the inhabitants just shun me. Explain that!”

The article also contains photos of the equipment used at LNDD to idetify the offending Nip. The Mickey Mouse ears are easily seen; cat experts suspect involment by Euro-Disney. Calls to Pepe LePew were not immediately returned. There are unconfirnmed reports that Pepe has been linked to cats through “operation smellto” an investigation that has been stinking up spanish courtrooms for years.

Yes I have heard rumors about this, but I do consider the source. after all L’Equipe is a known “leaker” of questionable news. I want to state this now and I want to state this clearly, my cat Cosmo has never used a PED in any circumstance. He does have a TUE for catnip, but in his case it is completely justifiable as his sister Star beats the crap out of him if he is not “hopped up” on nip. We will submits to any and all testing done by WADA, and or Dick Pound. Actually I think that this might be Mr. Pound’s milieu, cat show dope testing.

We assume that this testing does NOT extend to the cat owners as I know I’ll need a few drinks as the weekend progresses!!!

In other news, unless LA is making it up, case closed. No sanction from AFLD.

The Fench Tabloid L’Equipe now reports that all cats have been cleared, and no action will be taken for this weekend’s show.

I efel a great sense of relief, as does Cosmo who has “trouble” producing samples on demand.

He has had his “show groom” (OK this is what I do: groomers goop all over -look it up-, cat shampoo, cat whitening shampoo, rinse well after each, and finally a rinse of white vinegar and water. Then 1.5 hours of blow drying. >phew< In the end *I* have more cat hair on me than he does. It’s a joy, but such is the world of cat shows!! He’d better win something dammit!! 🙂

racejunkie April 26, 2009 at 7:35 pm

so how’d you and Cosmo do this weekend?

strbuk April 26, 2009 at 8:43 pm

The competition was fierce, very cutthroat 😉 We were “bridesmaids” all weekend.(second places all weekend) He was the youngest of the “premiers” there and we’ll be taking him on the road in about 6 months after a little “maturity” sets in. Thanks so much for asking!!!

Nice picture. Looks like a sizable bandage on Floyd’s right shin.
