Joe Martin Stage Race, Day 1

The Joe Martin Stage Race commences today in northwest Arkansas with a short 2.5 mile uphill TT at Devil’s Den State Park. Though the course is short it is challenging with an average gradient of 6.8. Clicking on the above link will allow you to access a PDF file showing the course and its profile.

The NWA Online interviewed Floyd Landis last night not only about his participation in The Joe Martin Stage Race, but also about his return to competitive cycling:

“There were just other things going on too that I had to deal with, so I can’t really say I missed it because there was so much else to do.”

After doing some soul-searching, Landis decided that he wanted to return to cycling. He missed the training and competition, and he wanted to get back to the top of the sport — and perhaps someday the podium at the Tour de France
