Yesterday’s TT is over with and today’s stage of the Joe Martin courses through the hills of northwest Arkansas. Unfortunately it might face trouble from a thunderstorm complex that is wreaking havoc over the southeast. Here is a brief description of today’s stage:

A very demanding course. The men will have over 5,400 feet of climbing. There is a 9.2 mile section with an average grade of 2.7%. The finishing straight has a 6% uphill grade over the last 350 meters. Please refer to the race bible for specific route instructions, feed zones and start/finish areas. The men’s starting area is located at the Wal-Mart parking lot on Hwy 62 West.

Stay tuned here for results as soon as they become available. In the meantime more has come in overnight on yesterday’s TT.

OUCH posts the results of yesterday’s short TT, but gives no real report on the race, though there are some out there that will follow.

Apparently some of the locals are not all that thrilled with the “rude” cyclists and their fans:

“They’re rude. They won’t let you pass. You try to pass them on the road and they’ll be like, ‘Stop, no, you can’t go that way,’” said Michelle Young. Some claim the cyclists and their fans take up the whole street. “Bikers just think they own the street and I think it’s pointless. They should go somewhere where nobody lives,” said Young.

The dialog sounds like it came from a Saturday Night Live “skit”, I can just see it now…

NWAonline has a rather pedestrian report on the yesterday’s time trial which was won, by the way, by Ben Jaques-Mayne who just edged OUCH’s Rory Sutherland.

In another piece from NWANews local and national racers recount their  experiences in the TT yesterday. A fine photo of Floyd Landis graces the story.

Here’s the results of today’s road stage in the Joe Martin Stage race. Rory Sutherland of OUCH has taken the pro men’s overall lead. More to come tomorrow:

Maybe it’s just a little thing…but ya know, that picture of Floyd on the NWANews article made my day. Gosh it’s great to see him racing a bike!
