Due to unforeseen technical difficulties I am playing catch up today providing Tour of Utah information. Both Friday’s TT and yesterday’s “tour” of Utah ski resorts, which saw loads of impossible climbs by the peloton, were blazingly hot. (causing Dave Zabriskie to say on his way up Snowbird “It’s fu***** hot!!”
Friday’s TT was held at Larry Miller Motorsports Park and the results for this stage can be found here
Yesterdays mountainous “Queen” stage was tortuous not only due to the climbing but also to the 104 degree temps (with a mere 4% humidity). You may read about it here.
Neil Browne of Road Magazine did a post stage interview with Floyd Landis which can be viewed here. Floyd discusses his yesterday’s stage, as well as his plans to compete at Greenville, NC at the US Pro Road Championships on August 31st.
Today’s final stage of the ToU will be a downtown Salt Lake criterium and takes place on two historic blocks of the city. It will last ninety minutes and with the predicted heat and fatigue from yesterday’s stage it will be a tough test for the peloton. Read a complete preview here.
Results from the final stage, plus overall GC results will be posted tomorrow. Finally you can follow the ToU in “real time” on the tweet grid here.

“The seven riders included Mancebo, Louder, Bookwalter, Lill, Zabriskie, Floyd Landis and Pat McCarty (OUCH p/b Maxxis) who continued to gain time on the field in pursuit of the race leaders. They missed a poorly-marked right hand turn and continued straight through an intersection. Salt Lake City native, Jeff Louder redirected the group back on course where they rejoined the regrouped peloton.”
ToU seems to have a lax attitude about efficient marshalling. Similar examples on the other road stages. It’s become a bad running joke among the racers and team staff.
