You can  read a first hand report on ToM Stage 1 from our very own Rant who witnessed the mayhem in person!

Yesterday’s stage 2 of the Tour of Missouri had Mark Cavendish in a familiar spot, as the winner. The ToM website has all the details on another stunning win by Cavendish.

The GC rundown , and other ToM competitions, can be found here.

OUCH’s rather brief press release on stage 2 describes how the team is coping with the UCI pro team competition:

September 9, 2009 Murphy tries late escape in Stage 2, White continues aggressive riding at Missouri.

Cape Girardeau, MO – On another day that ended up being dominated by the top sprinters’ teams, John Murphy of the OUCH Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis did his best to disrupt the late charge to the line.

With 1 km to go on the technical finishing course in Cape Girardeau, Murphy took advantage of a late hill to put in an attack aimed a upsetting the order at the front of the Columbia-HTC and Cervelo Test Team controlled peloton.

But with race leader Mark Cavendish hungry for another crack at a stage win, Columbia didn’t let Murphy get too far. “The two or three best sprinters in the world are here for this race,” said team directeur sportif Mike Tamayo. “Columbia-HTC showed during the Tour de France that they’re pretty well drilled when it comes to sprints, and they’re demonstrating it again in Missouri.”

Bradley White of OUCH Presented by Maxxis was active once again, figuring into a late break that also fell victim to the charge of Columbia-HTC and Cervelo, riding for Tour de France green jersey winner Thor Hushovd.

We’re going to stay attentive again on Wednesday and keeping looking for the move that will stick,” Tamayo said. “We’ve been aggressive the first two days, but just haven’t gotten in the right move yet We’ll keep after it tomorrow.”

The race continues Wednesday with a 114-mile trip from Farmington to Rolla, with a stage profile that resembles an EKG, with almost constant, leg-sapping rollers the entire route.

Today’s stage 3 has been described above as resembling an EKG, to say it has a few rollers would be an understatement. The stage runs from Farmington to Rolla, (114.3 mi. (183.9 km) and may be perhaps the most challenging stage in the three-year history of Tour of Missouri. The start in Farmington’s quaint downtown belies the challenges to come in the Ozark Mountains. With over 6,000 feet of total climbing on hill after hill, the GC will most likely undergo quiet a shake up.

Remember to watch the final three hours of the stage, go to either the official Tour of Missouri website Tour Tracker, or Universalsports.com to watch streaming live coverage. The camera work is not up to Tour de France standards, but Paul Sherwen makes up for it!

The tuffosi think Oscar Pereiro may go to Team “Shack” with Floyd Landis.

I’d pay to see that one.

Here:

http://www.tuttobiciweb.it/index.php?page=news&cod=23907&tp=n

“E se Pereiro corresse al fianco di Landis?

Secondo quanto anticipa il quotidiano belga La Meuse, anche lo spagnolo Oscar Pereiro (Caisse d’Epargne), vincitore del Tour 2006, potrebbe interessare alla Radio Shack. Pereiro potrebbe trovarsi a correre con la stessa maglia di Floyd Landis, lui pure contattato dal team statunitense. ”

Google Translation:

“And if it ran alongside Landis Pereiro?

As anticipated, the Belgian newspaper La Meuse, although the Spaniard Oscar Pereiro (Caisse d’Epargne), winner of the Tour 2006, you may want to Radio Shack. Pereiro could be running with the same jersey Floyd Landis, he also approached by the U.S. team. ”
