Curiouser and Curiouser

in Doping in Sports, Floyd Landis

Here’s an interesting quote from Floyd Landis in an article on phillyBurbs.com (thanks to Trust But Verify):

“On Monday we’ll submit a request for the case to be dropped because, based on the ‘A’ and the ‘B’ sample, there are too many contradictions for the two to be the same sample,” [Landis] said.

According to Landis, assuming that USADA doesn’t agree with the request to drop the case, there could be a hearing late this year or early next year. Landis expects USADA will probably make their decision on his request on Friday.

I don’t know about you, but my curiosity is certainly peaked. I wonder what those contradictions are? I wonder when we’ll get to see the data?

From the Philadelphia Inquirer, we get this (again, thanks to TBV):

“Landis said that it took him six weeks to obtain those test results and that he will spend his time until the hearing trying to gather the other test results, which he said are negative.”

“We’ll try to get more evidence,” he said. “They [the LNDD lab] refuse to provide information [about the other test results] for us to make arguments. That’s unacceptable… ”

[Refering to the testosterone test] “It’s not cut-and-dry like they say… . They need to proceed from here on out with my case and everyone else in the interest of science and fairness, instead of making a name for themselves.”

LNDD misrepresenting results? Contradictory results? Refusing to release relevant information? This case certainly is getting curiouser and curiouser by the day.
